The Westin Excelsior
The Excelsior Palace was opened on 21st July 1907 and marked by a huge firework display over the lagoon. Development of the 'Lido' was the brainchild of Nicolo Spada and over the years the Excelsior have been visited by many of the rich and famous including Erroll Flynn and Winston Churchill.
Nowdays, it's a superb base for a romantic break in Venice.
